Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
Final Fantasy IV Advance European Font Facelift v0.1 (Jan 26 2019) ==================================================================================================== Disclaimer ========== - No ownership is claimed by vivify93 over Final Fantasy IV Advance or the franchise from which it originates. - Apply this patch only to "Final Fantasy IV Advance (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).gba". - Send bug reports to vivify93 via PM on ROMhacking.net. - If a modder wishes to use this in their project, they are asked to please credit vivify93. - Players are encouraged to keep a backup of their original ROM or project in case an error occurs. This saw release mostly to complement my Final Fantasy V and VI Advance projects. However, it's also for players who would prefer to experience Final Fantasy IV as the original game with slightly enhanced graphics, rather than FFIV: Complete Collection's total visual overhaul. While this is virtually identical to Dragonsbrethren's project "European Font Enhancement", the aim of my project was to widen the the accented vowels and ñ in the thicker font variant patch. Dragonsbrethren never intended his patch to be played in one of the non-English languages, so the accented characters were left slim. As for why we're so obsessed with the European version of FFIV Advance... It fixed a myriad of bugs and text issues that are present, and were never fixed, in the original US release. If you must play FFIV Advance, play the European version. (But please, by all means, play the Steam version instead. Even better if you use the SNES to PC Music mod, and the 20 FPS version of the Low Battle FPS Fix.) Consider combining this patch with Bregalad's Sound Restoration mod https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/969/ and Dragonsbrethren's European Stripper Restoration. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/139/ There are 2 patches contained in this archive. Choose 1 of the following. - FFIVA_EUfontlift_SLIMv0-1.ips: Has an updated font that preserves the width of the retail European GBA version. All five languages will be perfectly readable. - FFVA_EUfontlift_THICKv0-1.ips: Widens most of the lowercase letters, giving it a feel more like FFV and VI Advance. There will be spillover issues with the four non-English languages. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Overview ======== - There are 2 patches: one that slightly widens the 8x8 font, and one that slightly beautifies it while keeping it the same width. - The hammer icon is now represented by a hammer, rather than a wrench. - The shield icon is replaced by the one from FFV and VI Advance. - In the English translation only, Yang's command "Power" is now "Focus", and the term "Babel" is now "Babil". ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Changelog ========= v0.1 - In both patches, updated the following characters in the 12x12 dialogue font: ! y ? é A ¡ j è á J à ¿ ä 1 ê 2 3 4 â 0 5 6 9 7 8 ç … Ç [ ] - Updated the following characters in the slim 8x8 menu font: d b é è á à Y x ä ê â ç / X … Ç # $ [ ¥ ] ^ ` ~ (This font is used in both patches' Music Player.) - Made a wider variant of the 8x8 menu font, based off of the updated slim version. There will be two patches. - Swapped around the hammer and wrench icons. - Changed the shield icon to the one used in FFI, V, and VI Advance. - In the English script, changed one of Yang's commands from "Power" to "Focus". - In the English script, amended the Config option "B Button Dsh." to "B Button Dash". - In the English script, the term "Babel" is now "Babil". ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Credits ======= - Stealth Translations: Windhex32 - HoRRoR: Square Enix Remakes Font Editor - Dragonsbrethren: Supplied values for Square Enix Remakes Font Editor, and made original Font Enhancement project - Square Enix …and all you Final Fantasy fans out there! ====================================================================================================
