Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
=========== Thank you for downloading "Breaking Star" (Formerly known as "Alternia Adventures" and simply "XradicalD's Hack") ========== YT/XradicalD Twitter: @XradicalD 2008-2020 ========== ========== GAME STORY ========== "Yoshi was gambling with bowser and he bet his eggs. Now you need to get them back, but... where are we?" ========== GENERAL INTRODUCTION ========== It has been quite a while, specially with a 8 year hiatus (2011-2019) but here it is a revision. I have on mind what I want to do with the last levels, but we are still too far from that. While aiming for visual quality and general enjoyment is the main goal, this hack is no stranger to the use of glitches and poor planned traps to annoy the player. While the hack may be a Kaizo one, most of the levels don't reach a difficulty of "TAS Required" skills. At worst, a couple of levels can be extremely difficult. The [ENERGY] Version may be feasible in a future date, however I'm not sure how much interest that version would hold. (Still, I really like the core concept, so I might renew it to the same level of this Kaizo release, maybe, if the SA-1 patch works with it)(And my programming partner is MIA, so I highly doubt it) If you're making a Let's play, feel free to message me on Youtube/Twitter @XradicalD, I do try to watch them all. ========= TIPS ========= - If you don't play Kaizo hacks often, make multiple save states: You might want to make one before entering the level and another one while playing it. - Set rewinds on your emulator - If one area looks broken, try to either get the X coins or use the L/R buttons to spawn any missing sprites - Normal jumps go higher but shorter while Drill jumps go furhter but stay low - Pressing down while swimming makes you swim lower - While Jumping/Drilling you can adjust the falling speed by keeping pressed the button, you can alternate between fast fall or regular fall in mid-air - Other than the Yellow switch palace, these aren't obligatory but they will help you to avoid annoying parts, mostly - You can gain speed by running on a platform, jump off and tilt back into it. Repeatedly doing this will set you into the running stance ========== KNOWN BUGS ========== x Sprites may behave unintended (may dissapear, can be respawned, see above) x [BSNES] Text boxes erase the background momentarely, fixes itself by closing the text box. x If the music speeds up during a castle and you finish it, it will apply to all music until the player dies/exits a level. [ Any additional bugs, feel free to message me on twitter @Xradicald ] ✓ Ghost koopas may switch to their original non-ghost graphics (Fixed with LM 3.10) ✓ The blocks of the switch palace display wrong colors in the overworld (Redrew the Overworld graphics to circumvent this) ✓ Some of the cave slanted roof graphics might not work as intended and glitch the player through the ceiling (I was using the wrong set of blocks, it's fixed now) ✓ Snes9x (and other emulators) would get corrupted audio in some levels, which would eventually crash the game (Fixed it by jumping to AddMusic K) ========== VERSIONS ========== 5.04 - Initial release 5.04.1 - HOTFIX - Fixed last level spawn point. Not game breaking but it was unintended 5.04.2 [HUGE UPDATE] - MAJOR - Switched to the "new" addmusic K method (Should work on all emulators, tested on bsnes adn Snes9x) - MAJOR - Switched to the SA-1 chip (Should provide lagless esperience) - Redrawn overworld graphics - Redrawn Cave overworld - Additional overworld details - Additional level details - Redesigned some levels and some level areas (Like "Sea View") - Rewrote some dialogue boxes - Redrawn some enemy graphics - Added a night mode and additional sprite changes by finishing the "last level" - [REMOVED] Roy (Bowser) boss fight (No SA-1 sprite found, rest in peace sweet prince) - [REMOVED] Bullet Bill Bro (No SA-1 sprite found, couldn't make one myself) ========== SPECIAL THANKS ========== SSoHPKC ProtonJon My brothers, friends and family Sparkysiver2401 SonicTarded TheNardsOfDoom The people at SMW Central Everyone who made tutorials for SMW and Lunar Magic The people who encouraged me to actually continue this The couple of people who watch my stuff on youtube All the people who have let's played my hack, my appreciation knows no bounds and I thank you for taking the time to play my rage inducing creation.
