Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
-================- -=BLOB BUSTER v1.0=- -================- A Graphics Hack of Dig Dug II New graphics (C)2001 BMF54123 Paradise Lost! -------------- LOCATION: The Sapphire Islands, ten miles north of Yass Plains. M.C., The Blob's faithful sidekick, is reclining against a tall palm tree, enjoying a refreshing glass of Zalu Berry Soda. As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, M.C. drifts off to sleep... ...but is suddenly awakened by the smell of burning wood! He turns around to see a strange metal contraption shooting fire from its nose, setting his favorite palm trees ablaze! "What the...? What's going on here?!" Suddenly, the ground begins to rumble. Earthquake? Thunder? No...it's a huge army of Bad Blobs, each carrying an armful of building supplies! "Bad Blobs! I should've known...you'd better have a good reason for interrupting my much-needed vacation!" "Silence!" one of them shouts. "We have orders from Emperor Rejal to build new munitions factories on these islands! He has given us permission to eliminate anyone or anything that stands in our way. I suggest you leave, now!" "Aw, gee, you guys...I was hoping I wouldn't have to kick anyone's butt today..." "You dare to defy us?" One of the Bad Blobs pulls out a remote control and presses a few buttons. Instantly, the sky is filled with swarms of gleaming, jet-propelled, flame-throwing robots! A few more buttons are pressed, and the robots begin to scatter throughout the Sapphire Islands, burning grass and trees as they go. Several of them, however, have their sights locked on a different target... The Bad Blob with the remote control steps forward. "Pyro-Bots...attack!" "Yipe!" M.C. transforms into a rocket and blasts into the sky just as the Pyro-Bots let loose a barrage of fireballs. "Looks like I'll be cutting my vacation short this year. But hey, maybe robot-bashing is fun..." So, um, what happens next? -------------------------- In "Blob Buster", you take control of M.C., The Blob's half-Blob, half-robot sidekick. Your mission is to rid the Sapphire Islands of the Bad Blobs and their Pyro-Bots before they can start building their munitions factories. Fight back! ----------- M.C. can use two different weapons in this game: a BlobCo "Lil' Tornado" Air Pump (built into his body), and a special jackhammer attachment for his feet. Air Pump: Press B to stretch out M.C.'s arm in the direction he is facing. Once his hand punctures an enemy character, either hold or rapidly press B to pump them full of air. Pump enough air into them, and they'll explode! But be careful, if you stop pumping too soon, they'll quickly deflate and start chasing you again! Jackhammer: The Sapphire Islands are dotted with strange brown shafts that extend deep into the ground. M.C. can hammer the tops of these shafts and cause parts of the islands to fall into the sea, taking Bad Blobs and Pyro-Bots with them (and M.C., if you're not careful!). Stand on top of a shaft and press A to activate M.C.'s jackhammer attachment; this will form a crack in the direction he is facing. Making a complete crack across an island will cause the smaller half to fall into the sea. Make sure you're not standing on that half when it happens! Special bonuses --------------- If M.C. drops enough land into the sea, a special bonus item will appear. Grab it before it disappears! There are 10 different bonus items, each with a different point value. Whenever possible, collect a large group of enemies in one spot and drop that land into the sea. You'll clear the islands much more quickly and easily this way, and earn tons of points! If you see a Googlin jump out of the water, shoot it for 500 bonus points! Achieving certain scores will earn M.C. an extra life, so try and get as many bonus points as possible! Alright, enough about gameplay, how do I use this patch? -------------------------------------------------------- What you need ------------- - BB_PATCH.EXE (or BLOBBUST.IPS and an IPS patcher). - A Dig Dug II NES ROM. - A decent NES emulator, such as loopyNES, fwNES, SMYNES, or NESten. I recommend using loopyNES because it rocks. But if it doesn't work for you, the other three are good, too. All the best and worst NES emulators can be found at Zophar's Domain: http://www.zophar.net How to apply this crazy thing ----------------------------- ** BACK UP YOUR ROM FIRST! ** Windows users: Just run BB_PATCH.EXE, enter the location of your Dig Dug II ROM, then click "Patch". Simple as pie! Non-Windows users: Download an IPS patcher for your particular OS, and apply BLOBBUST.IPS to your Dig Dug II ROM.
