The TurboGrafx-16 was originally launched in Japan all the way back in October 1987 and then was later introduced to the United States in August 1989, this videogame console was first intended to go toe to toe against the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
But because it was a little bit "late to the party" it actually ended up throwing down against both the Genesis from SEGA and the Super Nintendo - and also had some of the most exciting video games available at that time.
Advertised as the very first-ever 16-bit videogame console, the TurboGrafx-16 was actually running off of an eight bit CPU but had both a 16-bit video encoder and video display controller that allowed it to have much better graphics than the original Nintendo as well as better graphics than the Genesis.
Only the SNES released shortly after the TurboGrafx-16 came to the US was able to compete graphically. A bit of a cult hit, this videogame console has been lost to history a little except by fans that grew up with the amazing games this console made popular - games like Super*Soldier, Dungeon Explorer, and Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu.
If you're looking to relive what gaming was like in the early days, but don't want to have two fire up the "same old, same old" games you played on the original Nintendo or the Super Nintendo, check out our TurboGrafx-16 ROMs for a real blast from the past!

When the TurboGrafx-16 landed in America it had already been selling in Japan for almost 2 years, building up a pretty significant library of games in the anticipated launch for the US.
However, because of an inferior marketing plan the TurboGrafx-16 never really took off in America the way that the people behind this videogame console expected and more than 50% of the games created for this console never saw action in the US at all.
Thanks to the power of modern technology and our hard work tracking down all of the titles for this console you now have the unique opportunity to play EVERY single game released for the TurboGrafx-16, in both America AND Japan.
That includes all of the exclusive games that were made available in 1994 and only made for Japanese consumers, titles that you wouldn't have been able to play before unless you were living in Japan at the time or had someone send them over to you.
Here at TurboGrafx-16 ROMs you are going to be able to download dozens and dozens of titles that video gamers never had a chance to play before because they were geo-locked back in the late 80s and early 90s.
All of these TurboGrafx-16 ROMs are designed to work with popular emulators for this system and are ready to go right out of the gate. The second you download them they'll be ready to be booted up in your favorite emulator and you will have access to the full game, just like you would have been able to if you bought these cartridges when they were first released decades ago!
