Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
IRON TANK - RE-NAZIFIED Hack by Psyklax v1.0 (20170723) CONTENTS 1. Intro 2. ROM Information 3. Final Thoughts INTRO This is a hack that replaces the in-game graphics from Iron Tank (released on the NES in the US) with most of the graphics from Great Tank (released on the Famicom in Japan). It restores the swastikas and crosses that were removed from the US release, and corrects the palettes. ROM INFORMATION GoodNES name: Iron Tank - The Invasion of Normandy (U) [!].nes CRC32: DCFD85FC FINAL THOUGHTS So a guy came onto the romhacking.net forum asking whether it'd be easier to put the Japanese graphics in the US game, or the English text in the Japanese game. I said the former, without doubt. But me being me, I couldn't help but try it out myself. It took about an hour, which included doing a file compare betweem the two in HxD, and copying over all the changed graphics, while checking them in Tile Molester just to be sure. There were a lot of tiles that look like they're not used for anything, so I didn't change those, as there seemed to be little point. Once that was done, I watched longplays of both versions to see what palette changes were needed, and I only spotted two: flags halfway through, and the final fortress. So I blasted throuugh the game with the help of invincibility, and saw the palettes in FCEUX when I got to those two sections. Once I changed them in the ROM, that was it. All in all, a very simple hack, and it's got me thinking if there are any other 'censorship restoration' hacks I can do. Still, if those swastikas really do it for you, then enjoy this one! Tools I used for this translation: FCEUX (best NES emulator for debugging and hacking) HxD (general hex editing) Tile Molester (checking the graphics) Psyklax http://s346165667.websitehome.co.uk/psyktrans/
