Descrição - Final Facelift

Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)

Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.

Leia-me - Final Facelift

FinalFacelift version 1.30

INTRODUCTION

 FinalFacelift is a fun patch that changes the look, but none of the
 gameplay, of Final Fantasy for the NES. It's not a game itself, but
 only a patch file specifying minor changes.

 This is an ongoing experiment but it's now decent enough that I
 decided to share it with other FF enthusiasts. However, you must
 read and agree to the following before using this patch:

USER AGREEMENT
 If you do not agree with anything in this section, you must
 delete the patch files immediately. By keeping the patch
 files, you indicate that you agree to everything in this section.

 If any parts of this agreement are rendered invalid for whatever
 reason, all remaining parts shall remain in full effect.

 You can distribute this patch only if you keep all files intact
 and unmodified, including the .ips file and the .txt file. You
 agree not to distribute other files in conjunction with this patch.
 You agree you will not charge anyone for this patch.

 You agree that you will not use this patch unless you own a Final
 Fantasy cartridge. You agree that you are fully responsible if you
 use an illegal ROM or if you conduct any other illegal activity.

 This patch is free of charge and is provided as-is with no warranty.
 The patch is designed to be safe, but you agree you are fully
 responsible for any damage resulting from using this patch or
 from not using it.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

 If you just try the patch out, you should notice some of the following
 changes. For more details (if you want to build off of this patch), see
 below.

 Choose longer names for your guys. How about Squall, Tellah, Aeris and Vivi?
 All new party window defaults to Fighter, Black Belt, White mage and Black mage.
 Spells with names like Flare and Pearl start with black or white spell icons
 New text in battle like "Banished to the X-Zone"
 Nice monster names like Marilith, GreenSlime, Hill Giant, and Gorgimera.
   Not KARY, SLIME, GIANT, and JIMERA.
 Got rid of the wall seperating characters from monsters in battle
 8-character armor and weapon names like Leather(cap), Sasuke(katana) and
   Excalibr(sword).
 Most text like ORBS uncapitalized
 Changed Orbs to Crystals
 Updated item/armor/weapon icons
 Expanded item names
 Different graphics for some players, townspeople, monsters,
  battle backgrounds, and map tiles
 Restored censored graphics - e.g. the clinic is now a church
 Use some item names from the Japanese version, e.g. Diamond bracelet
 Enhanced status menu

SPECIAL NOTE #1

 5-character player names are in! There are some screens that need
 a bit of adjusting to look better, but this hack was just too good to
 keep to myself.

 With support for 5-character player names implemented, old save states with
 the 4-character names will exhibit minor bugs. If you use Nesticle, you can
 upgrade your old .sta save states to avoid these bugs. Upgraded save states
 will still work with the standard ROM (but you should back up the old save
 state anyway if it is important to you).

 One way to upgrade your save state is to issue the following commands from a DOS
 prompt while in the proper directory:

 DEBUG ff1e.sta
 e 206 ff
 e 246 ff
 e 286 ff
 e 2c6 ff
 w
 q

 Note that if you choose 4-characters in your name, plus a space as the fifth
 character, it works just fine.

SPECIAL NOTE #2

 I plan on expanding the game dialogue eventually. There are about 1000
 unused bytes available for this purpose.

BUGS

 There are no known bugs.

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.30

 5-character player names are now in and work in all known screens.

 When entering a name, underscores will show you how many more characters you
 need to enter to complete your name.

 Character CC is now a special underscore used in the select name screen.

 Don't enter your whole name from scratch! The default names
 Cecil, Yang, Porom, and Palom are now provided for you. Press B
 to erase letters or just press A to accept the name as-is.

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.22

 No other FF has these bars, and I didn't like them. I'm still
 deciding whether or not to dump the border surrounding the players

   of the fountain in Coneria

 Got rid of all ORB, ORBS, CHAOS, and LIGHT WARRIORS text.

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.21

 Zeroed out some unused text.

 I found the following nasty bugs that were probably introduced in the last
 version but went unnoticed. Sorry about that. Fortunately I managed to fix each
 bug.

 -Spurious text when you went into a shop, and then went into your item menu
 -Spurious text when you went into a shop and then visited an armor/weapon menu with
  empty slots
 -If you drop an item in the armor or weapon menu, the last letter may change to a
 spurious character. (I had to write machine code to fix this one!)
 -In battle, if you have an armor but no weapon, it will appear shifted over one space
  in the item menu
 -Spurious character after long names in main item menu (e.g. Adamant)

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.2

 Increased spell names to 6 characters
 Increased weapon and armor names to 8 characters
 Adjusted windows accordingly
 Changed Hand axe to Battle axe
 Changed Opal armors to Diamond armors
 Put an extra space before "Gil" in the main status menu
 and in shop screen. Adjusted windows slightly.
 Unsquished all occurances of the word "Weapon", freeing
  up D0, D1, and D2 characters.
 Changed spell names, e.g. "Lamp" changed to "Light"

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.1

 Monster names expanded from 8 to 9 characters, e.g Manticore.

 Adjusted windows and changed monster names accordingly.

 Updated various monster graphics (imp, pirahna, ooze, worm,
 water elemental, cockatrice, manticore, chimera, wyvern, nitemare,
 kraken, tiger, ogre, and naga).

 Minor change to desert tile.

 Minor changes to item descriptions (e.g. changed Bottle to Fairy Bottle)
 and dialogue text.

 Zeroed out some unused game won text.

 Updated town character graphics for old woman, woman, princess, guard, man, and punk

 Minor updated to ship graphics

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.0

 If you just try the patch out, you should notice some changes.
 However, here are details for anyone who wants to build off of the patch.

 New fonts and menu borders. Added new graphics characters. The following work
 only outside of battle:

 7B = Copyright symbol
 7C = Key
 7D = Lute
 7E = Tent
 7F = Tail

 The following always work:
 C8+C9 = Large check mark
 CA = Rod
 CD = Katana
 CE = Strong sword
 CF = Claw
 D3 = Ring
 E2 = Dark icon - Face with sunglasses
 E3 = Mute icon - Caption with "..."
 E4 = Sleep icon - ZZ
 E5 = Sleep icon - zz
 E6 = Stone icon - A rock
 EB = White spell
 EE = Black spell (greyish - from FF4 call spell actually)
 EF = "ll"
 F2 = Wicked sword
 F3 = "il"
 F6 = "li"

 The following characters are never used: C1, C6, C7, E7, E8,
 E9, EA. (Note: I changed the L in status screen and magic
 shops to use the regular letter L instead of character C6.)

 All armor/weapon/item icons have been updated.

 Monster names uncapitalized and expanded, usually up to 8
 graphics characters. For example, changed "KARY" to
 "Marilith". Uncapitalized monster attack names.

 Item names uncapitalized and made to use icons including
 Key, Lute, Tent, Tail, Rod, and ordinary potion icon.
 The icons are placed at the beginning of the name. Made use
 of il, li, and ll in item names. Increased item names up to 8
 characters. Renamed a few items: ROD->Earth Rod, TAIL->RatTail,
 KEY->Mystic Key, SLAB->Rosetta Stone, etc. For five-character
 items such as Cure potion, inserted a space between item
 name and item count. Uncapitalized and made other minor changes
 to item descriptions.

 Weapon names uncapitalized and new icons used. Icons
 are always placed before name. Made use of il, li, and
 ll. Renamed a few weapons: Katana->Sasuke, Mage Staff->Flame Rod,
 Heal Staff->Cure Staff, Defense->Defndr, etc.. Excalibur and Sun
 sword use strong sword icon and Bane sword now uses wicked sword icon.

 Armor names uncapitalized and new icons used. Icons are always placed
 before name. Made use of il, li, and ll. Renamed a few armors.

 Class names uncapitalized and expanded to 8 characters. New character
 graphics.

 A few townspeople graphics have been replaced - the dancer, the
 bearded old man, and the dwarf.

 Improved name selection screen. Changed "Select name" to "Please enter a name".
 Changed available characters to A-Z a-z 0-9 il li ll _ ' ! ?

 Improved title screen. Added copyright symbol. Uncapitalized text.
 Changed "Response rate" to "Battle speed". Made use of il,
 li, and ll in story text.

 Increased all spell names to 5 characters. The extra
 space could hold letters, but for now it just holds
 the initial white or black magic icon. Changed some spell
 names: Ruse->Blink, Fade->Holy, Xfer->Dspl, Ice->Bliz,
 Ice2->Bliz2, and Ice3->Bliz3. Made spells use il, li,
 and ll characters.

 Armor/Weapon screen - Changed the "E-" to a large check
 mark.

 Dialogue text compressed using DTE plus il, li, and ll
 characters. Changed text "destroyed the clinic" to
 "destroyed the church". Uncapitalized things like ORBS
 and LIGHT WARRIORS. Started using new item names like
 Rosetta Stone. Made minor improvements to some text.
 There is now a huge amount of dialogue space just waiting
 to be used...

 Restored some censored graphics:
 Changed candelabras into crucifixes
 Changed triangles (e.g. near Tiamat) into Stars of David
 Changed Clinic into Church
 Changed clinic healer into priest
 Changed Medusa's boobs
 Changed Eye/Phantom graphics to Beholder

 Improved main menu. Uncapitalized Status and Weapon commands.
 Changed "MAGIC" to "MP".

 Improved battle screen. Uncapitalized battle commands.
 Uncapitalized battle messages. Made use of il, li, and
 ll in battle messages. Changed "GOLD" when you win
 to "Gil up".

 Took out the "L1" through "L8" in the battle spell
 menu to make room for larger spells.

 Changed "Monsters perished" to "Enemies defeated".
 (The monsters might have run away instead of perishing.
 Also, Garland is a person, not a monster. A Wolf is an animal,
 not a monster.)

 Changed "GOLD" and "G" to "Gil" wherever possible.

 Uncapitalized text in shops such as shop names
 and YES, NO. Changed "x G OK?" to "x Gil, OK?".
 Made use of il, li, and ll. Changed WMAGIC to
 WhMagic. Changed BMAGIC to BlMagic.

 Major changes to status screen.

 Changed text in battle and elsewhere accordingly to new status
 icons (Poison/Stone/Sleep/Mute/Dark).

 Made the outdoor trees a darker green and the sea a darker blue.
