Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
The Legend of Zelda - Relocalized v0.9 by KillerBob This is an English "relocalization/restoration" patch for the original North American NES version of The Legend of Zelda. The aim is to provide an English localization that is more faithful to the Japanese version. There isn’t much text in this game, but what is there have been cleaned up and revised for an improved presentation. =============================================================================== Cosmetic Changes: * The title logo was slightly tweaked in order to clean up a somewhat poorly drawn Triforce. (Mainly inside the letter 'D' in ZELDA) * Restored two special tiles in the wreath next to the title in the story section, which were removed (most likely due to an oversight) during the original localization. * The paper Link holds up at the end of the treasure listing is now closer to its appearance in the original Japanese game. * The question mark was made thicker to better match the rest of the font used in the game. =============================================================================== Instructions: Use a "Legend of Zelda, The (USA).nes" ROM. There are two versions out there, so make sure you obtain the correct one - the USA PRG0 version. Use a patching program to apply the ips patches included. I recommend Lunar IPS. Where to find the ROM...? It's a secret to everybody. =============================================================================== Contents: FDS or NES Zora Sprite? Red color tends to smear pretty badly over RF and composite video, so for the NES version of the game, the Zora sprite was redrawn with black outlines in order to make them more visible against the blue water. You have the option to select which one you prefer. Relocalized.ips: Main patch without additional changes. - Additional Patches - Link Palette Fix.ips: Changes Link's color palette in Level 3 (1st Quest) and Level 2 (2nd Quest) to make it consistent with how he looks in the rest of the game. A possible oversight by the developers which also affects the color palette of certain items and Pols Voices in aforementioned dungeons. It is worth noting that pale Link doesn't blend in with the sand-filled boss room like the darker Link does. However, if that was their reason, it didn't stop them in the other dungeons with sand-filled rooms. Staircases Removal.ips: Removes the secret staircases found outside Level 5 and 6 (1st Quest) and outside a 30 rupees location (2nd Quest). Perhaps early entrances the developers forgot to remove. The limitation of only one entrance per screen forces them to be just secondary entrances to the labyrinths no matter what, and if you exit the labyrinth when you have entered it from the secondary entrance, the walking on stairs animation is absent. All.ips: All-in-one patch. IMPORTANT: The patches are compatible with a "USA PRG0 version" ROM only. =============================================================================== Left to do: * Reposition the cursor and fix the flashing text issue on the Save Option Screen. * Implement the smooth screen transitions when you enter or exit a cave seen in the Japanese Famicom rerelease. There's always room for improvements so if you spot any issues, have any nitpicks, questions or suggestions, please let me know over at http://www.romhacking.net =============================================================================== Special thanks to: Tomato for his fantastic Legends of Localization work, whose article is the basis for this patch. Without him this project wouldn't exist.
