Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
Phantasy Star - Brunette Alis v2.0 (Apr 04 2020) ==================================================================================================== Disclaimer ========== - No ownership is claimed by vivify93 over Phantasy Star or the franchise from which it originates. - Apply these patches only to the following game files. 1. Phantasy Star (UE) [!].sms 2. Phantasy Star (Japan).sms 3. Phantasy Star (Brazil).sms - Send bug reports to vivify93 via PM on ROMhacking.net. - If a modder wishes to use this in their project, they are asked to please credit vivify93. - Players are encouraged to keep a backup of their original ROM or project in case an error occurs. Alis' town/world map sprite has a shade of brown in her sprite palette. Despite that, strangely her hair is colored black. The odd disconnect of the hair color of her art compared to the hair color of her sprite has been noticed by players throughout Phantasy Star's 32 years, but never has anyone made a standalone patch to recolor Alis' hair using the existing brown color until now. The Japanese patch WILL work with SMS Power!'s retranslation (v1.02 as of this writing), but it will be incorporated into v2.0 in and of itself. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Overview ======== - Alis' hair is now brown in all of her field/overworld sprite frames. There are patches for the North American/European English, Brazilian Portugese, and Japanese games. - Ensured the Japanese version's patch works with SMS Power!'s retranslation. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Changelog ========= v2.0 - There was a harsh black outline all around Alis' hair; this was inconsistent with the rest of the character graphics. It has since been heavily reduced. - Reinstated the 4 brown pixels of shading to Alis' walking frames. - Permitted SMS Power! to use the project in their upcoming release of v2.00. v1.0 - Colored Alis' hair brown in the U/E game. - Replaced the single pixels of brown used on the following sprites with different colors: facing south / left foot forward facing south / right foot forward facing north / right foot forward facing north / left foot forward This was done for no particular reason other than I wanted brown to only be used for her hair. - Ported the U/E changes to the Brazilian Portugese and Japanese releases. The data appears to be in the same place in all three versions, but it doesn't hurt to have extra patches. - Verified that the Japanese version's patch DOES work with v1.02 of SMS Power!'s retranslation. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Credits ======= - YY: YY-CHR - Sega ...and all you Phantasy Star fans out there!
