Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
SNES Mortal Kombat 3 "Control a NOOB" hack by Master ZED ([email protected] *OR* http://masterzed.cavesofnarshe.com/) Table of contents: 0. Version history 1. Patch introduction 2. Noob's moves and other info 3. Credits Non-numbered. Legal bull ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0. Version history ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- v1.0 (2:09 AM 7/23/2005) - Character select pic fixed. It is now all black (just like I wanted it). - Smoke code is no longer required to access Noob, however, the Smoke tease code (when no hidden characters are activated) has been dummied in a quick fix for Noob availability in 2-Player mode. - Alterations to the Smoke code (Noob appearing at the title screen, etc.) have been reverted since Smoke and Noob aren't associated by access method anymore. - A second access method for Noob has been made for those that don't care about potential 1-Player mode glitches (or want to pit Noob versus Smoke, Motaro, or Kahn in 2-Player mode). See section 2. - A missing combo has been added to section 2 of the readme. -------------------- -------------------- v0.9 (6:18 PM 5/7/2005) Initial release. Character select pic has not been fixed yet. -------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Patch introduction ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE; This hack is for a headered GoodSNES-verified US version of MK3. If you try it on any others, you're on your own, as I cannot guarantee compatibility. You may be wondering why such an intricate (yet inefficent and crappily coded) hack was made over a character that for all intents and purposes looks to have been hacked in himself at the last minute. Well, there's really only three good reasons for it: a) I've always been fond of hidden characters. b) I needed something new to hack, or at least something interesting. For this to look nice was more than enough for a side project to my other two in- progress hacks (which will hopefully see release soon). c) I *never* liked the fact that the MK series was stingy with its hidden characters. In fact, I'm never happy with that sort of thing, ever. With that out of the way... If for whatever reason you're wondering what the point of this hack is, i.e. you didn't read the description, you can't remember who Noob is, etc., this patch makes Noob Saibot playable, either through the character select in 2-Player mode or through choosing Kano and holding Select before the round (more precise info in section 2). 2-Player mode accomodates Noob like Motaro and Kahn, treating him as a boss character that shouldn't see 1P Kombat. The second method allows you to use him in 1-Player mode, where he doesn't have a working tower pic nor an ending, but otherwise works fine. This hack is, in turn, professional-looking and crappy all at once. :D In MK3, Noob Saibot has become an all-black Kano with no special moves. He has all of Kano's combos, but that's it. Aside from modifying the in-battle boss checks to exclude him, Noob himself has not been altered in any way. The only advantage Noob carries is that he walks faster. He doesn't even get a power boost like he did in MK2. So if you're like me, and like Mortal Kombat 3/UMK3/MK Trilogy, this hack may be for you. But if you suck at MK like I do (especially with Kano)... you may not care that much. ^_^' At the very least, the included ASM commentary might teach ya something. I doubt you'll even read it though. There are two patches: the actual patch, and the anti-patch. The anti-patch removes the changes done by MK3Noob.ips, reverting the ROM back to normal if you patched the right game. If you *didn't* patch the right game, it will be of no help, as it writes back in the data from the verified US ROM that was overwritten by the patch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Noob's moves and other info ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special moves: *NONE* Combos: 1. HP, HP, HK, LK, B+HK 2. HP, HP, B+LP 3. HP, HP, D+LP, D+HP 4. HK, HK, LK, B+HK 5. LK, HK, LK, B+HK Other in-battle info: Noob always fights at the Balcony stage. This overrides pretty much any other stage preference, except the bosses, though since Motaro and Noob share the same stage, you'll only notice this in a fight versus Kahn. Noob has the fastest walk speed in the game, just slower than his run. Other: In any mode, Noob can be chosen before any round so long as the fighter you're going in with is Kano. After the Vs. screen and cheats screens, hold Select down for the player(s) using Kano. Done correctly, Kano will become Noob. Note that the code that does this does NOT have any restrictions; the switch can be made when Kano is CPU-controlled or even in demo battles. Noob comes up on the character select screen on his own in 2-Player mode. The above hack isn't necessary, but since he uses the middle slot, Smoke, Motaro, and Kahn will be unavailable to the other player if Noob is chosen this way. If you do play Noob in 1-player mode, there are no fixes to accomodate him, and there won't be either. You'll just have to deal with his garbage pic on the towers and his lack of an ending. I did create a Vs. pic for him, but long story short, that hack does not appear in the public release in any form. It wasn't complete anyway. :\ Noob cancels the Vs. screen instead, much like Motaro and Kahn do. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.
