Now with 66.7% more pompadors! ...depending on what hair fits the definition.

All teams altered.  Many outright replaced.
At least 74 of 80 player faces changed.
At least 94 of 104 player names changed to go with that.
(A couple Japanese names just corrected)
Lots of Match, Halftime, and Ending graphics changed.
Music switched around including previously unused music.
Some teams send more defenders after you.

Has a lot of River City Ransom characters including the Japanese
GBA EX Parodi*Ban 20007 Special version as well as characters
from related games.

Useful Game Genie codes
AAUVKZLA = 1 min tourn half good for testing: 
AAKTXXPA = 1 minute vs (to play tourn on special field afterwards)


Note that in tournament mode, the player(s)'s team 
always has the main team's speeds, hit points, and faces.
You only have the super shot, shot steps, and colors of the team you pick.
Teams controlled by the computer look like they're supposed to,
or in Versus mode everyone looks right.

Two additional players are available per a team only in tournament mode
and always look the same however their names vary from team to team.
In descriptions of teams they will follow after the plus sign.

In tournament mode, the player's team always looks like the Anarchists
and the computer controlled Anarchists look like Team Evil.
It's just the way World Cup works.

Doing their best realizing nothing is perfect and they will always have to
work within some system of sorts.  Freedom is their ideal.  Freedom from
coercion, extortion, poisoning, and brainwashing with false information.
They support the magna carta and the bill of rights.  They support common law
of do no harm and do not encroach on others.  Libertarians can be cool too.
There's a good a description of an anarcho syndicalist commune in Monty Python 
and the Holy Grail.

Godai - from Tanibana High School who previously started the Rengou Athletic
Union for competitions, not having enough people from his own school.  Looks 
an awful lot like leader of the Cowboys Gang, Tex, who once stood guard in
River City High School (and Clint in the American Street Challenge).

T-800 - This terminator sent to destroy them has been captured and reprogrammed
by the Anarchists to play Soccer for Freedom.

Jimmy Lee - one of the Double Dragon twins from Los Angelos.  Once competed
for Oklahoma in Japan in a multi event competition.

Heilman - the Icelandic Dodgeball Captain.  Very happy with his nation
overthrowing banker control in a peaceful revolution and actually
prosecuting fraudulent bankers who were bleeding his nation dry, he is happy 
to aid others elsewhere in the name of freedom.

Tank a.k.a. Alex - from Oklahoma.  Competed in the same competition in Japan.
Also competed for the Thornley corporate team in the American Street Challenge
and it really turned his stomach.  Does not care for corporate sponsership 
anymore.

Thor - One of the "Zombie" bosses of River City High and the Plague Gang.
Named after the Teutonic God of Thunder.  Looks identical to Kobayashi of
Reiho High School.

Otis - Another "Zombie" boss.  Don't you dare wear outdoor soccer cleets on
his gym floor.  Actually any outdoor sneakers are a bad idea for indoor soccer
as high tread is likely to stick and break the ankles of less resiliant
people.  My ankle hurt for a good while.  Anyway, Otis could be a
doppleganger for Onizuka of Reiho High.  He also resembles Frankenstein's
monster.

Referred to as Osorezan or Osoreyama.  Osore happens to mean fear.
Reclusive occultists from the mountain.  Since they started playing Soccer,
Untani has been replaced by a spirit they summoned.  Maybe it's a General of
the Sengoku Era or just a past occultist.

Mr.Bean - somehow wandered into a soccer competition.

Blair - What's become of the disgraced prime minister who followed Bush and
Cheney into a war under fabricated pretenses and invaded a sovereign nation
throwing it into deadly chaos far worse than letting a dictator stay in power.

Charles - Might become king before age 90.  Happens to be a descendent of 
Vlad the Impaler.  Actually he's not that bad.  He really does a lot of great 
work.  If the Medical Cartel is angry at him for promoting alternative medicine,
integrated health, and homeopathy, then he's doing something right!

Trump - Mean-spirited, self-serving mangled apricot **** trumpet who panders
to the most gulliable and seeks to line his own pockets no matter the cost or
hardship to others.  Plays unfairly with a team of about 15 lawyers ready.
A spoiled trust fund brat who got old and divorces any wife that gets too old.
He actually sued to try to stop an offshore wind power station from being built
just because it would be in view of his golf course in Scotland.  Has no respect
for the constitution and bill of rights.

James - English Dodgeball captain. Has somehow acquired the headband of a 
Japanese fisherman and often wears it to try to raise his game.  One of the more
respectable of this lot, at least as a human being.  Looks like a twin of
Heilman of Iceland but isn't nearly as good as him.

Mr.Marsh - seems to have the Innsmouth look and can be heard chanting words of
a dreaded elder tongue, words such as, "Iä-R'lyeh! Cthulhu fhtagn! Iä! Iä!"

Banker - scum of existance.  An embarrassment to humanity.

Oats - naturally gluten free, for those with legitimate allergies and not 
just being intolerant to be trendy.  But Quaker Oats (owned by PepsiCo) are not
glyphosate free and their asses have gotten sued for it.  At least they've 
recalled their products with sunflower seeds contamined with listeria.
Of course it's not like the FDA cares since a Monsanto scumbag VP was appointed
by the so called Democrats to head it and approve whatever they want.

Prominent Japanese High School.  Misako recruited many Dodgeball players for soccer
and cheers on and chides the team.

Kunio - reputable fighter and athlete of many sports.
Looks like Alex of River City (and Crash from the American Street Challenge).

Riki - Kunio's eternal rival and sometimes ally from Hanazono High.
Looks like Ryan of River City (and Crush from the American Street Challenge).

Gouda - another old rival from Takararyo High.  Previously joined Godai's
Rengou Union.  Looks similar to Don on the USA team that dropped out of this 
World Cup.

Kouji, Masa, and Genei - more competitors from Nekketsu.  Kouji seems a 
little bummed he can't cultivate a magnificent pompador like Kunio or Riki.

Mostly not Kenyan. In fact at least two are Jamaican, but many have joined this
Alliance due to the oppression of 8-bit NES palette restrictions.

them wrapped up under a cover.

Omondi - the authentic 100% Kenyan.  Has a masters in emergency management.

Tyson - long retired from boxing, and mostly doing comedy these days, he
decided to try out for Soccer.  Hopefully the fists won't start flying and he
won't get hungry for ears.

Ving - powerhouse action star

Trey - main character of his Nekketsu Flip cartoons

Notorious Japanese Biker Gang.  Kunio has had some street brawls and highway
battles with these guys.  Intense pompador rivalry is suspected as an
underlying reason.  Oddly, the Joker has joined their team, replacing Hoshina.
Don't be surprised if he usurps leadership from the Saji.

Recovering from Boshevik oppression (who genuine socialists actually fought against),
since the Soviet Union has fallen, they are now free to reclaim elements of their 
folk culture that were suppressed, starting with Tetris, as long as their homes 
aren't in the way of development of olympic arenas.  There are allegations this
team may be jacked on steroids.
(Serious mode on) Note that recent conflict in Ukraine is actually a
three way stuggle between forces of the Western Bankers and Russian Government
(not the people) with the Ukrainian People caught in the middle.  Propaganda abounds,
especially in the West, the Ukrainian people are the ones to believe the word of
since it's a multifaceted conflict in their land. (Serious mode off)

Batman - He's the Russian Batman.  Oddly the Russian Batmobile can be seen
at the Ocean City Gallery at the boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland in the 
United States.  It's got lots of fans!

Ivan - the unremarkable Ivan has been replaced by the Ivan who once guarded 
the gates of River City High and was boss of the Internationals Gang.  Could
be a doppelganger for Gouda (or Spreck in the American Street Challenge)

Putin - Though determined to retain his title as manliest president ever, he 
has promised to keep his shirt on for this competition to avoid totally 
demoralizing the other players.  He can get back to bare-chested bear mounted
bow ice fishing with grappling javelins and other activities he considers 
mundane later such as great white shark rodeos with laser beams.

Moldoff - the Russian Dodgeball captain has joined the soccer team.  Looks a
lot like Abobo.

now feels the need to compete.  Usually reserved, hearing chants of 
"Jerry! Jerry!" may cause him to fly off the handle.  But nothing pisses him
off more than federal agents in costume impersonating him and violating
people of little credibility.

Wilford Brimley - previously battled the evil Dr. Kellogg.  Now back in action
since learning of the disgrace of PepsiCo's Quaker Oats he once endorsed. 
Some PepsiCo executives are going to get their oats rolled!

Brain - has quite some mental power

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle - not actually an alien but he fits in with them.

Titan - doesn't have much depth perception but still good at soccer.

4-Eyes - could be a twin of the "Zombie" boss Mojo or Taira of Reiho High...
except for the extra pair of eyes.

RoboMatsudo - copy of a Reiho student scientist possibly responsible for these
robo copies.

RoboToraichi - copy of one of the tiger mask twins.

RoboRyuji / CyborgAndy - copy of one of other less reputable and meaner pair
of Dragon twins.

RoboMajishi - smaller than the real Majishi but more powerful.  A full size
one would have been needlessly expensive to build.

Editors/Utils used:
Hexposure - My favorite hex editor but running with dosbox on my current system
heats it up a bit much.

FCE Ultra eXtended-Debug 1.0a based on FCE Ultra 0.97.5
and its included tools such as PPU Viewer and Hex Editor
Wish its hex editor had a go to location feature but it searches for
values and loads tables nicely. Most awesomely, you can change values on
the fly while running a game and undo or just not even save bad or useless changes.

Hexecute - It's a standalone hex editor for windows.  I can't get loading
tables to work and sometimes search doesn't find exact values that are there.

YYChr.net - Awesome graphics tile rom editor.

TBLater - quicky & easy to make some tables but it can't load existing tables so 
you have to remake them instead of modifying them.

Other notes:  I wanted to restore the Hori Hori Miners' mole shot from the 
Japanese game but the tiles used by it are used for the 3 and 4 over those
players' heads in multiplayer vs.  Unless something can be given a pointer
to other tiles, restoring it would replace those player indicators with a 
quarter of a ball with some dirt constantly over their heads.
Except for the PCE versions, the Japanese versions are only two players.

Although they stripped it of all the Japanese cultural teams, Nintendo
did some good balancing measures to their international World Cup version.

For the Japanese versions:
It is called Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball-bu - Soccer Hen
or Hot-Blooded High School Dodge Ball Club: Soccer Edition

PCE versions are four players with various upgrades and additional teams.
Hucard has a new Scientists team and CD version has five other countries.
Sharp X68000 has all teams selectable in vs mode and most options such as
turning off super shots or changing the music anywhere.
8-bit Famicom is the basic original version.
If you somehow play as the miners, the graphics of the mole shot don't
go low enough when done with a bicycle kick in these versions.

Teams available invs and Save states can be hacked for versions where all 
teams aren't normally selectable.

Mega Drive has horrible control and hit detection and most players' shots
are badly nerfed (regular and super).  However all teams are selectable in
vs, players have varied stats on all teams, and at least the Hattori Ninjas
have a bunch of crazy special moves shown in a youtube video at:

(Japanese Genesis) is so messed up ruining it despite the upgrades.
Additional final team is all-stars of someone from each of 12 teams.
Best single player strategy is to play as Kouji despite slowness and keep
doing his bicycle kick super shot.

Slide tackle does 3 damage. Shoulder bash does 8 damage. If players have the 
same current HP, then either can bash the other, whoever gets the other first. 
If a player has 1 or 2 less current HP than someone they're trying to bash, 
they both fall. If a player tries to shoulder bash someone with more than 2
more HP, only they fall and the opponent is completely unphased.
Tripping over stones or getting hit by the ball, even super shots, actually
does zero damage.
