Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
Splatter House - Wanpaku Graffiti (J) [MMC3] Patch By: MottZilla Package Version 1.2 ================= About This Patch: ================= This patch follows my patch of the same game to the Sunsoft FME-7. The FME-7 was alot easier because of the mapper being more flexible than MMC3. This patch obviously converts the game from its original Namcot 106 memory mapper to use the Nintendo MMC3 which is used in tons of games. The limiting issue of the MMC3 was the CHRROM (graphics) banking is not eight 1kb chunks. The FME-7 didn't have that problem. To solve this the CHRROM was expanded to the max (256kb). Then I had to duplicate alot of data. Even then I ran out of room and had to overwrite original CHRROM banks, luckily I was able to work out which ones had been moved into the new section and didn't need to be in the old section anymore. Besides alot of copying of CHRROM data, a lot of program code and data tables I had to find and alter. I have tested the patch out, played every level (unless there are hidden ones) and tried to do anything I could think of to test it fully. I did not experience any problems that were not in the original game. I believe the patch is complete and fully operational. This game should run on these boards. (PRG 128KB, CHR 256KB, No PRG RAM) TKROM TLROM TSROM ======================= How to Apply the Patch: ======================= This patch consists of a Win32 executable. The reason it is this way is because a regular IPS patch would just contain a bunch of CHRROM data to put it in place. So instead you do the following. Step 0 is optional. 0. Check your ROM's CRC in an emulator like NESTopia to match these: PRG-ROM: 128k, CRC: 0xD666560F CHR-ROM: 128k, CRC: 0x34F019F2 If yours don't match you may have a bad ROM and the patch may not work. 1. Place your Splatter House ROM in a folder with "SHSDMMC3_PATCH.EXE" and run the program. It will prompt you to type in the filename of your ROM. To make it easy on you I suggest you rename your original ROM to something short such as "SH.NES" or "SPLATTER.NES". After you type in the filename and press enter it will patch everything. 2. Now you can check your ROM's CRC to see if they match the correct MMC3 version: PRG-ROM: 128k, CRC: 0x0941DA18 CHR-ROM: 256k, CRC: 0x538DA541 3. Load the ROM in your favorite emulator, install in a cartridge, or load on your PowerPAK and enjoy! ========== Game Tips: ========== After the credits stop rolling, press A on controller #2 to see your game completion time. Hold A&B and Down on controller #2 and press reset to enter a test menu. ============== Final Thoughts ============== I really like this game even though it's pretty simple and you can blast through it pretty quickly if you are good at it. I enjoyed figuring out how it did all the things it does and then changing them to work on the MMC3. It was certainly a good project since I finished it in only a couple days. And just those couple of days ago I thought I'd never be able to make it work on MMC3. Enjoy. ============ ZIP Contents ============ SHSDMMC3_PATCH.EXE * SplatterHouse MMC3 Patcher Program README.TXT * You're reading it! EOF
