Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)
Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.
Final Fantasy II *is* Easy Type Created by Dragonsbrethren Version 1.0 - July 6th, 2008 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Description ********************************** I'm fairly certain anyone with even a mild interest in Final Fantasy IV knows that the Easy Type version, which was released in Japan at about the same time the US got its Final Fantasy II, has many interesting changes that aren't present in any other version of the game. Nonetheless if you spend enough time on forums you will inevitably find people who use "Easy Type" and "Final Fantasy II" interchangeably, as if they were identical to one another, despite all the evidence to the contrary available via a quick search online. However, this erroneous claim is what inspired me to make this hack. Every byte of data that was changed for Easy Type has been ported to the 1.1 revision of Final Fantasy II US, text changes have only been made for the two new swords and anything else that needed text, the rest of the game is left entirely intact. This is as close to what we would have gotten in 1991 had Final Fantasy II US been a localized version of Easy Type. I hope you enjoy playing through this under-appreciated version of Final Fantasy IV. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Patching ********************************** Patch this hack to a clean copy of Final Fantasy II US Revision 1.1 using your preferred patching format and utility, two UPS patches and two IPS patches are included. If you are using the IPS patches verify that your ROM is clean using NSRT before patching. You can also use NSRT to determine if your ROM has a header or not, if you don't know. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Known Issues ********************************** Many enemy, item, and skill names were changed between the original Japanese release of Final Fantasy IV and Easy Type. Final Fantasy II US's names are mostly based on the names used in the original Final Fantasy IV but some were also based on Easy Type's names. This hack only changes text that absolutely had to be changed: The names of two weapons that were replaced with new ones and three items and one command that weren't present in Final Fantasy II US. Additionally Easy Type had some clarification added to its dialogue, most of this was already present in Final Fantasy II US and including any changes that were not was beyond the scope of this hack. Easy Type features more configuration menu options than Final Fantasy II US, I didn't bother to restore the full menu. If you want to change one of the missing settings the save files between all SNES/SFC versions of the game are compatible with one another and you should be able to load your save in a different version, set your options, and switch back to playing this hack with the changes in place. The apple icon is taken from J2e's Final Fantasy IV translation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Contact ********************************** Feel free to contact me with any issues related to this hack: Email: [email protected] Forum: http://slickproductions.org/forum ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ©2008 Dragonsbrethren Industries
