C64 Tapes Information

C64 Tapes roms Commodore 64 is probably the most iconic, retro computer of all times. It started its life back in 1982 in the United States and it was manufactured by Commodore International. The console or computer if you prefer was sold in massive amounts. The actual amount is still unknown but it is believed that it was sold between 10 and 17 million units. The price in 1982 was around $600 which translates in over $1600 in today's money. It was expensive but worthy.

Some of you will know that Commodore 64 Tapes ROMs are still available today, in digital form. After all, the computer was an icon. It is also known under C64 or CBM 64. The number 64 refers to the 64KB of RAM memory the computer had. Today it is an extremely low amount, but in the year it was revealed the C64 was more than just powerful. It used an 8-bit microchip, a special waveform chip, alongside multi-color support. Previous versions of the computer were Commodore PET and Commodore VIC 20. However, they were far less popular.

Between 1983 and 1986, Commodore 64 held between 30 and 40% of the market stake in the United States. It was mass-produced, with over 400.000 units manufactured and sold per month. Keep in mind that IBM computers and Apple's units were available in the same time frame, but they were less popular as well.

All of this means that there are a lot of games to play which were developed for C64. In order to play them on a modern computer, you need an emulator. We recommend Vice and Hoxs64.

There are a lot of C64 Tape ROMs to load to the emulator as well. Iconic games such as Rick Dangerous, Pit Stop, Outrun, Last Ninja II - Back with a Vengeance, Spy Vs Spy, 1942 and a lot of others are posted and ready to be downloaded.
